Sergio Busquets is set for 15 days out of action after picking up a knock in Barcelona's opening day win over Athletic Club at the weekend.
Luis Enrique suggested after the game that the injury didn't "look too serious" but early reports suggest the midfielder will be out for around two weeks.
He will undergo medical tests on Monday and, if confirmed, it's likely he will miss the Malaga game next weekend.
However, that's the only game he should miss, as an international break then follows Barça's second league game.
Busquets injured his ankle in a clash with Aritz Aduriz in the second half of Luis Enrique's side's 1-0 win in the Basque country.
He was replaced by Marc Bartra for the final 20 minutes, with Javier Mascherano pushing into midfield.
